LAUREN SOLEIMANI
PATTERN, TEXTURE & RHYTHM
What locations and subject matter did you choose to shoot for your photos?
I chose several locations and subject to shoot for my photos. This includes clothes, shoes, outside grounds, a building and leaves.
Describe the photos you took:
I took photos from unusual angles and tried to capture patterns and textures like in the bottom of converse and clothes, and different natural elements found outside.
What is the distance in the shot? (How close or far away are you from your subject?)
most of my images are from a closer view in order it see the texture but the I do have a picture of a building that is from a farther.
What was your point of view when you took the photos? (from above, below, straight on...)
I was above the subject in most of my shots, as in the picture of the shoe and clothes but in the photo of the building as well as the road there are different angles that i purposefully chose in order to find the texture i was looking for.
Are your photographs horizontal or vertical?
I have 7 horizontal photos and 1 vertical image.
Did you consider the rule of thirds to compose your shots? In which photos? Describe.
I considered the rule of thirds in my shots because I understand the effect and difference in how an image looks when there are thirds center points. This is very much shown in my image of the road.
Which one of your photos is a dynamic composition that successfully leads the viewer’s eye through the work?
I believe my image of the road had a rather dynamic composition and has many components that lead a viewers to see the photo in several different ways and aspects.

Line and shape
What locations and subject matter did you choose to shoot for your photos?
I chose several locations and different things to shot for my photos. One location is outside in the morning on a driveway. I shot some wet leaves with a car in background, then shifted my view and took a picture in the grass and of a tree branch all in the same area. I also took two pictures inside with the room dark but the the light on of underneath a chair and a shelf on the wall.
Describe the photos you took:
My first picture is of a pine tree's branch being towards the center and you can see other pine needles throughout the rest of the background. my second photo is of grass shot from an ant's perspective with a car in the far left corner, you can also see the diversity of leaves and natural elements in the grass. My third picture is of the corner of a white stairway leading to a porch. My fourth photo is a picture taken from an ant's view of a driveway with dead leaves in focus. My fifth picture was of underneath a chair, there is a shadow that looks like a star shown from the bottom of the chair. My last photo is an angled shot go a shelf with a hearted wooden rose design.
What is the distance in the shot? (How close or far away are you from your subject?)
All of my photos were taken from a relatively close view of the subject.
What was your point of view when you took the photos? (from above, below, straight on...)
I was above the first photo, straight on for the second, below for the thirds, straight on for the fourth, below but titled for the fifth and below for the sixth.
Are your photographs horizontal or vertical?
All my photos are horizontal.
Did you consider the rule of thirds to compose your shots? In which photos? Describe.
Yes I considered the rule of thirds espcially in my fourth photo wanted to make sure the leaves were not centered and applied to the rule of thirds.
Which one of your photos is a dynamic composition that successfully leads the viewer’s eye through the work?
I believe my fourth photo is dynamically composed and leads the views eye from the focused leaves but then relocates to the car in the background.
